VP of Recruitment
Mingyang (Elaine) Zhou is a postdoc in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Perelman School of Medicine. Her research is mainly focusing on using the structural biology (Cryo-EM and X-ray Crystallography) and biochemical/biophysical tools to understand the molecular mechanism of protein/RNA acetylation mediated by a group of acetyltransferases, also elucidating how those acetyltransferases catalytic activity contributing to cellular senescence and to leverage this understanding to develop pharmacological compounds to combat diseases of aging. Elaine has worked on three PBG projects and is excited to spend the next year as an E-board member helping to build a more engaging, supportive, and educational experience for all PBG members. When she’s not working, Elaine enjoys singing, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and exploring new places through travel. Whether it’s unwinding with a favorite song, trying out a new dish from a different culture, or discovering hidden gems in a new city, she values creativity and curiosity in both her personal and professional life.
