Joshua Freedman

Joshua Freedman is a Co-Founder and the CEO of Airalux Medical. He holds Bachelor’s (EAS'2023) and Master’s (GEN'2024) degrees in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania, with minors in computer science and engineering entrepreneurship. During his time at Penn, he was awarded the Hugh Otto Wolf Memorial Prize and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors.

His work at Airalux focuses on developing a digital version of therapeutic (incentive) spirometers to help prevent postoperative lung complications while improving workflows for providers. He has successfully led the company through a 30 patient clinical trial and secured a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the NIH with his co-founder Yi-An Hsieh. Currently, he is a fellow of the UCity Science Center Founder Fellowship, an NIH-funded program for founder development.
