Mini-MBA Series
Catalyze your career ambitions in the business of healthcare
Launched in Spring 2021, our Mini-MBA Series is designed for non-MBA students who want to learn about key business concepts to advance their consulting skill set. All PBG members are encouraged to attend, and no prior business experience is necessary. We strongly encourage those planning to apply for PBG Consulting Project Manager or Project Director positions to participate in this educational series. The Mini-MBA Series is offered on biennial odd years.
The series consists of 3 Sessions and a Capstone Project. Those who successfully complete the series will receive a Certificate of Completion. Participation in all 3 Sessions as well as the Capstone Project is necessary to receive a certificate.
3 Sessions:
1) Company Valuation
Mergers and Acquisitions play an important role in the growth of mature businesses and for startups. How do companies determine net present value of potential acquisition targets? This course helps breakdown how consultants/businesses think about the valuation of companies and assess associated risks.
2) Market Analysis
Understanding the potential market and current markets is key to any business’ success. How do companies assess markets, how is globalization impacting our understanding of these markets? This course details frameworks businesses in the biopharma space use to break down and understand these complex questions.
3) Pricing Strategies
How do companies decide what a consumer should pay? There is a lot more to the equation than simply recouping cost. This course lifts the veil on what considerations and models businesses employ to ensure a price on a new/existing product hits its mark.
Capstone Project:
You will work in small teams on an assigned business case using the knowledge learned throughout the sessions. Your team will have 1 week to work on the case, and you will present your team’s business recommendation to a panel of distinguished judges.
