Nektaria was born and raised in Keratea, a small town close to the beach in Greece. She started her educational journey in her home country where she received a B.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Genetics (from DUTH) and an M.Sc. in Molecular Medicine (from NKUA). In 2016 she joined the University of Pennsylvania and in 2019 she obtained her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology, as part of a collaboration between the School of Medicine at UPenn and the University of Ioannina. Currently, she is working at UPenn as a postdoctoral researcher trying to understand and target tumor microenvironment adaptive mechanisms. She is also involved in promoting solidarity and support among fellow postdocs by serving as the fundraising co-chair of the Penn Postdoc Association. Working alongside the PBG team she aims to build a strong storied brand that will help shape future healthcare leaders. Nektaria likes running by the river, snorkeling, hiking, traveling (20+flags), and exploring her linguaphile and epicurean aspirations.
